Our club uses its own chat app for all team and club communication - announcements, team chat, training and game details, and the club calendar, all in one place. Here is everything you need to get set up and find your way around.
You join the app by invitation from the club - there is no public sign-up. When the club invites you, an email arrives with your personal sign-up link.
| 1 | Open the email and click the link. The link is valid for 7 days. If it has expired, contact the club and we will send a fresh one. |
| 2 | Choose a password. The page asks for a password and a confirmation, and nothing else - your details are already on the invitation. It needs to be at least 8 characters. |
| 3 | Read the confirmation page. It tells you what happens next: either you are in straight away, or your channel access will be set up once the club confirms your membership. If you are waiting, you will get access to all your channels as soon as the club finalises things - nothing more for you to do. |
The app protects your account with two-factor authentication (2FA) - a one-time code sent to your email.
| 1 | Enter your email and password on the login screen. |
| 2 | Check your email for a 6-digit code. On a device you have not used before, the app emails you a code. It is valid for 10 minutes. |
| 3 | Enter the code. Tick Remember this device to skip the code on that phone or computer for the next 30 days. If it did not arrive, or you typed it wrong, tap Resend code - you can ask for a fresh one once a minute. |
After the code, you choose which club to open. Your channels, members and calendar all belong to the club you picked, so sign out and back in to switch.
| 1 | Tap "Forgot password?" on the login screen and enter your email. |
| 2 | Check your inbox for the reset link. It is valid for 1 hour. |
| 3 | Set a new password and log in as normal. |
The first time you sign in, the App Usage Agreement appears and covers the screen. It cannot be dismissed, and the I Agree button only becomes active once you have scrolled to the end - so give it a read.
You can look at it again whenever you like: Profile → App Usage Agreement. It also shows the date you agreed.
The app runs in your browser, but installing it makes it feel and behave like a normal app - full screen, its own icon, push notifications and an unread count on the icon. There is nothing to download from the App Store or Play Store.
| 1 | Open the club's app address in Safari. It has to be Safari - Apple only allows installation from there. |
| 2 | Tap Share - the square with the arrow at the bottom of the screen. |
| 3 | Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen", then Add. |
| 4 | Launch it from your home screen - it opens full-screen, just like a native app. |
| 1 | Open the club's app address in Chrome. |
| 2 | Tap the ⋮ menu in the top right, then Add to Home screen or Install app. |
| 3 | Tap Install. A banner offering to install may also appear on its own - tapping that does the same thing. |
The app installs on a computer too, and runs in its own window away from your browser tabs.
| 1 | Chrome or Edge: click the install icon in the address bar - a monitor with a down arrow in Chrome, a + in Edge - then click Install. |
| 2 | Safari on a Mac: use File → Add to Dock. |
Sign in, then tap WELCOME. Everything lives behind two tabs across the top.
| Tab | What's there |
|---|---|
| INFORMATION | The club noticeboard, and your calendar of games, training and club events |
| CHAT | All the messaging - your channels, direct messages, the member list and your profile |
Four buttons run along the bottom of the screen:
| Button | What's there |
|---|---|
| Channels | Every channel you have access to, sorted into groups, with a badge when there is something unread |
| DMs | Your private conversations, one to one and group |
| Members | The club list - tap anyone to message them |
| Profile | Your details, notification settings, remembered devices, calendar subscription and sign out |
Channels are sorted into groups. Each group header carries a badge when anything inside it is unread, and you can collapse a group by tapping its header. You only see the channels you have been given access to.
Opening a channel takes you to the most recent message. A New Messages divider sits above everything that has arrived since you last looked, so scroll up to it to catch up on what you missed.
The member list is grouped into Committee, Coaches, Managers and Members. Tap anybody to start a direct message with them.
The INFORMATION tab has two buttons: your club's name, and Calendar.
Your club's name opens the noticeboard - the things you will want to look up more than once: venue details, committee contacts, codes of conduct, fee information. The club keeps it up to date, so check here before asking.
Calendar brings your games, training sessions and club events together in one place.
Entries arrive by themselves. When your coach posts a Game Day, Training or Event card in your team's channel, it lands on the calendar of everybody in that channel. Club-wide events posted by the club land on everybody's calendar. Availability polls do not create calendar entries.
You can have everything on the club calendar appear in the calendar app you already use - Apple Calendar, Google Calendar or Outlook, alongside work, school and everything else. It keeps itself up to date: when the coach moves a game, your own calendar moves with it.
| 1 | Open Profile → Calendar Subscription and tap Copy subscription link. |
| 2 | Get the link onto a computer. Email it to yourself, or message it to yourself - whatever is easiest. |
| 3 | Add it to your calendar. In Google Calendar: Other calendars, then From URL. In Outlook on the web: Add calendar, then Subscribe from web. In Apple Calendar on a Mac: File, then New Calendar Subscription. |
| 4 | Paste the link and confirm. Your club events appear, and your phone picks them up automatically from then on. |
#general is the whole-club channel - every member is in it automatically. It is the place for club-wide chat and questions.
Announcement channels carry official club news. Only club admins and committee members can post there, and the sender's name and title always appear with the message, so you know it is official. Keep notifications on for these: this is how the club reaches everyone.
Each team has its own private channel - your team's home for chat between players, parents and coaches. This is where your coach posts Game Day and Training details and runs availability polls. Tap a poll answer right on the card, and tap a different one if your plans change.
Tap the people icon in the channel header to see who else is in your team's channel, and start a direct message with any of them.
Game and training posts land in your calendar automatically, and the app reminds you twice: at 8am the day before, and at 8am on the day. Each reminder appears as a card in the channel and arrives as an email.
Some channels are pinboards - rules, documents and links posted by the club for reference. You can read but not post.
Press and hold a channel in the list and choose Favourite Channel. It moves into a Favourite group at the top of your list with a star beside it, so your team's channel is always the first thing you see. This is yours alone - nobody else sees your favourites. Press and hold again to remove it.
Tap the bell icon in the channel header and choose how long to mute it: 1 hour, 8 hours, 24 hours, 1 week, or forever. You still see everything next time you open the channel - you just stop being notified. Tap the bell again to unmute. Please keep announcement channels unmuted.
Open the DMs tab, or tap any member's name anywhere in the app, to chat privately. Direct messages work just like channels - photos, reactions, replies, editing and deleting all included.
If the club has set you up as a coach or manager of a channel, that channel gets a Tools button in its header - for posting a proper card instead of a plain message. Which tools you get depends on the channel:
| Channel | Tools available |
|---|---|
| Your team's channel | Game Day, Training, Availability Poll |
| An announcement channel | Event Schedule, Availability Poll |
| Any other channel | Availability Poll |
One thing worth knowing about polls: the card shows a running count beside each answer, and everybody in the channel can see those counts. Individual answers are not listed on the card.
The Profile tab shows how the rest of the club sees you - your photo (or a coloured-initials avatar), your name and your description.
| 1 | Tap Edit Profile. |
| 2 | Update what you like: take or choose a photo (or remove the one you have), change your first name, last name or description, or pick a different avatar colour. |
| 3 | Tap Save Changes. They show across the app straight away. |
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Notification Settings | Separate switches for all channel messages, direct messages and @mentions |
| Accepted Devices | Every device where you ticked "Remember this device", with where and when it was last used and when it runs out. Remove one to make it ask for a code again - worth doing if you signed in on a shared or borrowed phone |
| App Usage Agreement | The terms you agreed to, and the date you agreed to them |
| Push Notifications | The switch that turns alerts on for this device, plus a test button |
| Calendar Subscription | Your personal link for Outlook, Google or Apple Calendar |
| Sign Out | Asks you to confirm first |
There is no change-password screen in the app. Sign out, tap "Forgot password?" on the login screen, and set a new one from the emailed link. Remember that this also clears every remembered device.
Notifications are how you will know about game changes, coach announcements and messages. There are two steps and you need both - saying yes when the browser asks is not enough on its own.
| 1 | Install the app first. Notifications are far more reliable from the installed app than from a browser tab, and on iPhone they only work once the app is on your home screen. See Installing the app above. |
| 2 | Open Profile and turn on the Push Notifications switch. Your phone or browser will ask for permission - tap Allow. If the switch shows a padlock, notifications are blocked in your browser settings and you will need to allow them there first. |
| 3 | Tap Send Test Notification. One should arrive within a few moments. On a phone, lock the screen first so you can see it land. |
| 4 | Nothing arrived? Check your phone's own settings (iPhone: Settings → Notifications → find the app → Allow Notifications. Android: Settings → Apps → the app → Notifications), make sure the channel is not muted, and check your phone is not in Do Not Disturb. |
This guide covers the everyday member experience, plus the Coach Tools available to coaches and team managers. Anything else, just ask the club.
